Ok, so I know this hairstyle also called
Californian highlights (which means gradation of the hair color from darkest to lightest, darkest being the roots) has actually been in trend since last year but now it's
EVERYWHERE! Celebrities love it and a lot of them have gone for it. This fashion has hit the streets in my country and I've decided I'll give it a go this next season. Why am I telling you this? Well, if you have highlights on your hair just like me I can imagine you must have touched up your roots as well and now realized that you could have gone without!
Of course, this naturally-let-my-roots-grow doesn't work on all hair colors and on some of them it can look over-dramatic or...just neglected. Then, the solution is ask for this gradually lighter highlights at your hairdresser's or try to do it yourself at home. I haven't tried it and don't dare to but if you're skilled enough and find the color that might work for you, I'm sure it can look great, there are lots of DIY videos on the internet that show you how to do it right.

Oh, and one last note! Lately I've been trying something at home to brighten up my color. It's actually a very-well-known trick, you know, the one with lemon juice. I've done it only for 3 days because I don't want to ruin my color or dry my ends (considering it's Summer and they'll dry eventually...). So basically I've poured 1 lemon's juice on my hair and let it dry naturally while I've been sunbathing on my terrace. Ok, yeah, it's risky but I didn't forget to put on some sun protector spray and didn't stay in the sun for longer than 2 hours (Hello, I live in Barcelona, I don't own a swimming pool and for once, no, I didn't hit the beach as I usually do). After that, I rinsed it out in the shower, washed my hair with an after-sun shampoo and finally conditioned with a nutritive masque that I leave on and use to get my natural waves without damaging my ends. The result? My hair has got super-bright and slightly blonder, specially at the ends but in a natural color that doesn't look dyed. Now I'm not going to do this anymore because I don't want to spoil my hair and want it to grow longer during the rest of the summer and until I spot split ends and feel the urge to cut them. Maybe one of these days I upload a photo of my hair as it looks now for you to see it.
Now, here are some of my favorites Ombré Hair looks. I think the first ones to make this look trendy a few years ago were Cameron Diaz and Sarah Jessica Parker but now some other celebrities to pull it off are Rachel Bilson, Jessica Biel, Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Drew Barrymore, Keira Knightley, Sophia Bush, Alexa Chung, Whitney Port....
